The Clinic Itself

This is Mary Katherine and I counting out tablets the day before clinics started. The whole team spent Sunday afternoon and evening divvying up tablets into small bags so that the pharmacy didn't have to count out every prescription.

It was a monumental effort. The pharmacy filled over 9000 prescriptions in 5 days, as you can imagine, they were kept extremely busy and were the last group to be able to pack up!

After being triaged people would wait to be called in to see a doctor.

This is the wound-care table. Cynthia ran this department and ran it well with the wonderful assistance of Emily who is not medically trained but was willing to help in any way she could. What a team they made!

This is the pharmacy department. You must keep in mind that each day every single thing was packed up and loaded onto a truck, including all the tablets! The pharmacy department was set up each day, every script was checked and the usage of the medications explained to the patients. The pharmacy team worked so hard all day, every day. I helped them on two afternoons and cannot speak highly enough of how hard they worked!

I hope this helps you see what the clinic looked like and how it ran. By the end of five days it was like a well-oiled machine, everyone knew where they were supposed to be and what they were supposed to be doing. It was an honour to work with such a great, hard-working group of people. We were in school buildings the entire week, so the classes of kids would either move to other classrooms or have their classes outside for the day. Each part of the clinic would be set up in different rooms with people directing traffic and flow through the clinic.
